The Palmetto Plant Eaters Club is free, open to the public, and meets monthly to teach and support whole-food, plant-based vegan eating. The Club will host Jessica Weaver as its guest speaker on Wednesday, January 8th at 6:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry building at 110 Malphrus Road in Bluffton, SC. Her presentation “I Could Never Give Up Cheese! (and Other Lies That Kept Me from Losing Weight)” will cover how moving from a standard American diet to a whole plant diet was made easier by three key points: a belief that you can change your preferences, a solid commitment to simple meal preparation, and a healthy community connection – even if you have to create that community yourself.
(Please note that the Club usually meets on the first Wednesday but because January 1st is a holiday, we will be meeting on the second Wednesday which is January 8th.)
The one hour Palmetto Plant Eaters Club meeting will consist of introductions, announcements, upcoming calendar events, and the guest presentation. Afterward a Q&A session will take place for the speaker and to address any general plant-based lifestyle topics. Our meetings are for the curious, newbies, and longtime plant-based vegan practitioners alike. A drawing will be held and one vegan prize will be given away to one meeting attendee. Must be present to win. Learn more about the Palmetto Plant Eaters Club at http://www.PalmettoPlantEaters.com
Jessica is a 38 year old Savannah-based business and information analyst who committed to a primarily whole food plant based lifestyle in May of 2018 after a lifetime of struggling with obesity and overeating. Her transition from a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian diet to a whole plant diet led to a 70lb weight loss and a newfound love for fitness. She competes in local races as a runner, started both a run/walk group at her workplace and an online chat community for whole food plant based eaters, and is training for her first half marathon in April 2020.
