Did you miss me last week? I missed you! And, quite frankly, I was sweating profusely (as perfectionists tend to do) over the fact that I was unable to write, but I had a really good reason: my husband had a short stay in the hospital. Luckily it proved to be nothing of significance, but it sure did give us a scare!
I am thankful that my husband is fine and, in fact, in excellent health. The time, effort & dedication that we invest into our wellbeing pays us back daily.
I am also thankful that I can work almost entirely from home helping others to invest in their health. In the case of emergencies, like last week, I can put my work life on hold and be completely available for my loved ones. Ah, the ever elusive work/life balance….
Speaking of gratitude….in just over four weeks from today, if you are living in America, you will be preparing in some way to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. For what will you be thankful this year?
I’ve sketched out some ideas for you….
1. I’m thankful for my family, my friends and our health & happiness. (Doesn’t that always top the list?)
2. I’m thankful that I can now distinguish between real food and food-like stuff sold in every single grocery store in America. I’m no longer so easily played the fool by food manufacturers!
3. I’m thankful that I no longer believe the nutrition claims on the front of packaged food & instead confidently navigate the ingredient list & know which ingredients to avoid and which to accept. I’m so grateful that I no longer eat all that bad crap.
4. I am thankful that I now understand what MSG, food coloring & artificial sweeteners do to my brain and how I can safely & smartly avoid them in order to protect the health of my cognition & memory.
5. I am thankful that friends, family and co-workers are noticing a change in my wellbeing…my healthy skin color, a bit of lost weight, my bright eyes and my improved attitude…all from just learning how to eat real, whole, satisfying food.
6. I am thankful that I now know the correct recommended amount of dietary protein so that I can stop overloading my body and causing situations like arthritis, low calcium, bursitis and even high blood pressure.
7. I am thankful that I now know how to expertly & quickly shop the grocery store and how to best store & care for fresh food until it’s time to enjoy it with minimal spoilage & waste.
8. I am thankful that I now understand the difference between alkaline & acidic diets, and how disease can not thrive in an alkaline inner body environment.
9. I am thankful to now know that food choices are far more important than duration, intensity or type of exercise for body size management. Paying more attention to my food and still enjoying my meals while exercising a bit less vigorously has really balanced me out.
10. I’m so thankful that learning all this and so much more only took 3 weeks (just in time for Thanksgiving!) and cost only $99. It’s the best investment I’ve made for myself in a long time: the material, the daily lessons, the support circle and the Q&A sessions. It made making a transition to a healthier me so easy, virtually painless and surprisingly fun. I met some really great people with whom I will stay in touch, offer mutual support and cheer each other on to greater levels of wellness.
